In Primal Twang, flatpicker and storyteller Dan Crary leads a stellar ensemble in a multi-media theater production that explores the guitar's 3,500-year history. Primal Twang premiered in San Diego in early September 2006; these four shows became the nucleus of a 2007 DVD. Featured on the DVD are electrifying live performances by some of the world's leading guitarists, including Andrew York, Albert Lee, Mason Williams, Eric Johnson, Doc Watson, Peter Sprague, John Doan, and Doyle Dykes.

In this video interview, Crary describes the genesis of Primal Twang and some of the challenges he and his colleagues faced creating the show.
