Watch to find out!

This 3 pendulum harmonograph was built as a portion of a design technologies class. As a part of the assignment I also completed:
- Build logs
- AutoCAD assembly drawings (with isometric views)
- Theoretical Research

  • The harmonograph is wonderful. The music is awful.............

  • @telescopereplicator yeah, I've avoided putting anything too dramatic in any videos since

  • @gonepishing .Still...very inspirational machine! I remember seeing one, over 25 years ago. I still have a few small drawings, somewhere. It was a small 2 axis machine. And with only a few changes you could create a vast range of figures. By changing the height of the weights (higher swing frequency) the number of variables increased enormously. This machine never gets boring. Once you start you can't stop discovering new figures. I want to build one, too. First from Lego. Later a wooden one.

oh totally, although mine's in coffee-table mode right now.

if you are interested I posted my plans for this machine via the link in the desc.

  • @BAK3NATOR awesome, I gotta visit Newmarket soon, my co-worker knows hallsworth and stawsky

also, new project coming here soon: (I messaged you the link... youtube doesn't allow links here)

  • @BAK3NATOR HEY ITS JEFF

is this video suitable geeky for you?

  • Correction to my own reply: the number of the variety of drawings changed a lot. Not the variables ofcourse; only one was added. Nice website, very clear building instructions. Those examples are just like the ones I saw, back then. I noticed one detail in many different videos about Harmonographs: in most cases the weights are too small, too light, resulting in machines that stop swinging after just a few movements. Heavier weights give a better result. But more can be added. No problem.

  • Paul. You are awesome.
