The Stony Point-Frankston shuttle is an unusual operation on the Mornington Peninsular, south-east of Melbourne. Operated by Metro Trains Melbourne with 'Sprinter' railcars hired from V/Line, the shuttle connects with electric trains to the city at Frankston. The running time between Frankston and Stony Point is around 36 minutes, and there is no longer provision to cross trains anywhere in the section. In order to increase peak direction frequency, the Sprinters often split at Stony Point, with the second railcar departing once the first arrives at Frankston. This of course reduces the frequency in the other direction! This video was shot in the middle of the day on a Friday, and shows 7012-7008 at Stony Point, having just arrived from Frankston as a pair. 7012 departs at 11:02, leaving 7008 in the platform. 7008 is then seen accelerating past the Stony Point Home signal with the following 11:47 Up service. Just over an hour later, 7008 is seen departing Crib Point station on the return Down shuttle, 7012 having stabled at Frankston.
