Revolvers in the Trench! Watch the fun as I practice my revolver reloads...but I do get better! Like I've talked to in my revolver tabletop reviews, it's a special skill set that is difficult and must be practiced a lot. PFIDude is cameraman here in the Nutnfancy "Trench Warfare" handgun drill, now revised and improved! Gone is the 90 yard shot, replaced with several oblique targets and a rapid fire ending plate. The offhand and barricade plates were ultra small torso plates and are usually 10" or 12" rounds. As always the plates used were purchased from
Actiontarget.com and I am still enamored with them. They allow fun and instructive drills just like this. The 686P of course performed flawlessly and its Performance Center trigger and its inherent accuracy is drool worthy. Especially fun were the full power .357 Magnum rounds I sent downrange here. I had a hard time keeping up with PFIDude's faster moon clip reloads in his sweet TRR8 (me getting one too!) and my times lagged as I experimented with different reload methods (and yes yours may differ). And yes the revolver was run out of a tactical rig in testing...deal with it! Great times in the Trench with these wheelguns and we are addicted now to the fun. ///////////////////// Music: Torley Wong

  • Not bad considering you don't shoot a revolver that much. There is an easy fix to your reloads. A lot of people who are use to training with semi-auto handguns try to reload revolvers with their weak hand. Reloading with revolvers should be done with your dominant hand, especially when using speed loaders. Also, with speed loaders, gravity is your friend. Point the muzzle down at a 90 degree angle and you won't have to fight with it as much. I like your honesty, hope to see more revolver videos

  • Wrong hand for reloading - use dominant hand to twist the speedloaders and the non-dominant to cradle the gun

  • @Springr1911 The closest they make is a S&W model 625 that I know of.

  • I wish S&W would make the 686 in 45acp.

  • I laughed my ass off when I heard that goofy music at the beginning when you said you were gonna flail. But you look badass at the end in those pictures.

  • Nice shooting! Massad Ayoob has a great video on loading revolvers with speedloaders. I notice you are using your left hand to load the cylinder, Ayoob uses his right hand. I recommend you watch his video.

  • 20:32 my favorite shot of the video

  • @TheMichaelsantana sounded like he said "thank you" to PFI for reminding him to go offhand

  • @TheMichaelsantana I believe that was "thank you".

  • NTF, all ya need is a copy of Mass' Ayoob's old book Stressfire which can teach ya the Stressfire reload. Its lightnin' fast. Basically you open the cylinder with your left hand hold the gun by that cylinder tip it barrel up and whack the ejector rod. Turn the gun down and put your speedloader in. Twist the nob and release the rounds and close your gun and transition back. With a lot of practice you can do it in 3 seconds or less..... No shaking the shells lose, brother! Love th straight shootn
