2007年祇園祭の山鉾巡行 Gion-Festival(祇園祭)is held annually since 970 in Kyoto and known to be one of the three-largest festivals in Japan. Many events are held throughout July in this festival. I filmed Yamaboko-Jyunkou(山鉾巡行) ,the highlight in Gion-Festival.
Wonderful video. Turning these floats, some of which are 600 years old and weigh many tons, takes grease, banana leaves, and lots of manpower. The Gion procession, which culminates the four day festival, takes about 2 1/2 hours and has been held every July 17th since 869.
Nice video.
