Reis Robotics Plasma Treatment #1

Reis Robotics USA is demonstrating the integration of the Openair® Plasma Treating System at the CastExpo 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL on March 20th, 2010.

This 6-axis Robot moves the Plasmatreat Jet Head precisely over the machined surfaces. It is switched on during the operation and turned off when in transit. This is controlled via an easy to set-up interface covering all parameters for the Plasma beam (with) and the on/off cycle.

Both systems -the Reis (Robotics) Robot and the Plasmatreat Jet Head are engineered and manufactured in Germany; however they are both built to the Underwriter Laboratories Standard and to last or endure high lifetime. Reis Robotics was able to engineer Robots with the highest precision available and a repeatability of approx. 0.05mm. The ability to move all axes at high speed allow our Robots to reduce production cycle times and raise productivity what keeps our customers competitive.

Over the years Plasmatreat and Reis Robotics maintained a close partnership and have opened new markets such as the solar and die casting industries.

In this video plasma is used in cleaning the machined surface of an aluminum die casting component (part). Plasma is considered to be The Fourth State of Matter. It is made up of ionized gas consisting of molecular fragments that cleans and activates the substrates surface. It removes all organic contaminants providing an excellent base for a seal application and adhesion promoter..
