Close to 2,000 business leaders and students from across the country packed Vanderbilt University Nov. 1-3 for a massive event to discuss how to build a successful business while also being socially and environmentally responsible. The theme of the Net Impact Conference, hosted by the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management, is "Building a Sustainable Future, What Will You Do Next?" Participants heard from 300 speakers in 90 different sessions dealing with corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship, international development, and non-profit and environmental management.
Jim Cooper is currently serving his third term as U.S. Congressman for the 5th District of Tennessee. Cooper also teaches health policy at the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. A leading voice in Washington on fiscal policy, health policy and government accountability, he serves on the Armed Services Committee, the Budget Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Cooper began his career as an attorney and investment banker. He is a Morehead Scholar, earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina, a B.A./M.A. as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
