  • hinabina,

I feel that if informing the organisations is good ideas, I have been myself inform them but they nothing active or sort out. Blog is a way to informing more deaf and hearing people what is going on, spread to many people. I feel you are moaning yourself, not me.

  • Splashie,

If you have level 4 BSL you will understand my signing more understanding and you will realise how important to get Level 4 BSL. We need more interpreters not CSWs. So you go ahead and get more qualifications.

And Iluvpink ... what is the problem?

  • My point that you say terp have attitiude bec they pick who work with...but deaf ppl also pick terp that they like too! if terp been had prob with deaf person b4 then surely it better not work with that person again so there no more probs. IF deaf person have prob with terp they dont book them again coz they not get on with them. Terp code of ethics say that too have look at my last post that where i said it last time. i think more professional not to cause prob than make it worse! that my point

  • i have worked as a CSW in education for abt 10 years and find it really difficult to understand what you are so angry abt. it is well with in the deaf persons right to refuse an interpreter for whatever reason the want so as a service provider it is also with in the interpreters right to so refuse to work with a deaf person.

  • NAD-RID Code Ptofessional Conduct not allow interpreter pick if have conflict with person or job place... so that why too... duh

  • I can sign mostly using fingerspelling rapidly, and my dad's ex wife of 4 years was how I learned asl but I was raised speaking German and English and have always known both languages like it is natural and I have met American German interpreters that learned German from classes who speak proper German all the time while interpreting and have snotty attitudes about it and the learning proficiency in another language is hard and may be why they are cocky... it annoys natives but it is hard to get

  • I can make out bits and pieces of what he's saying..he's not doing alot of BSL fingerspelling, thank god or else I'd be totally lost.

  • I don't really know how I understand it, I just do. I see similarities in the visual part of both languages... I might catch 5 of every 8 or 9 signs but I can fill in the blanks contextually by using the facial grammar...

  • I don't doubt your ASL ability, having seen you video. Just curious how you had no problem understanding if BSL and ASL sign production is just so immensly different?

  • I'm an interpreting student in America and I know ASL and I've got no problem understanding him. A few signs are foreign to me but I can look for context clues and meaning, like I'm learning in school to do when working with a Deaf client, and I can understand him just fine :)

I agree with him as well. Deaf culture is known for its bluntness and pussy-footing around the real problem is a slap in the face. Tell it like it is if you don't want to work with a specific person. Respect is important.

  • whats your point? conflicts? maybe interps get too personal + friendly with the clients were is the professionalism in that, please tell me.

  • i wish i knew what you were talking about. i don't know BSL.
