The Unofficial S107 Challenge!
For: All interested parties, specifically S107 owners with a competitive streak.
Challenge #1:
Ingredients:
Sub/ultra-micro 3-channel coaxial helicopter, preferably a Syma S107.
CD-case (scotsoft's legendary heli-pad graphics is optional)
Video recording device
Timer
Recipe:
Place CD-case on a flat surface (ground effects keeps thing interesting )
Place heli on CD-case
Set up camera or bribe/cajole camera operator into readiness
Set timer for 5 minutes (you don't want to harm the battery, do you?)
Take off to a height of at least 30cm (1')
Return for a landing
Repeat until you miss, or time runs out.
Upload video for proof
Most consecutive landings win BRAGGING RIGHTS!
I've had 18 hours total r/c heli experience, including around 100 x 5min (over 8 hours!) on this red Syma S107. Despite literally hundreds of crashes, it has been 100% reliable. Best starter heli IMO.
At this point I've been using a CD case as heli-pad for a week. I kept it going for almost 3 mins: 13 successful landings, on #14 I ended up with a skid on the table. So that is just under 13 seconds per landing, meaning it should be possible to land 23 times in 5 minutes. Or more if you can do it faster. What is the limits of the S107? Or whatever heli you have?
So, c'mon! Give it your best shot!
Please tell me that video is speeded up slightly. My S107G doesn't even move that fast, and neither does my brain :>) Dennis
