Stuart Littleford interviews Amir Khan before the Battle of the Badges Boxing Matches.
The police team were victorious on the night overall as fighters were spurred on by more than 1,200 spectators. The event took place under full Amateur Boxing Association rules at the Premier Suite, De Vere Whites Hotel at the Reebok Stadium.
The 27 police and fire officers had been put through a gruelling four-month training schedule by a team of Amir Khans trainers from Gloves Community Centre and Gym in Bolton to prepare them for the fight night, in which fire and police competed against each other in individual bouts.
The two teams even benefited from the expert advice of Amir Khan, who dropped in to check on their progress.
Chief Superintendent Dave Lea from Greater Manchester Police said, The evening was a great success, not only for the police because our team won, but due to the fact that so much money was raised for our charities.
