If you're like me you rely on youtube to hear what a uke sounds like before you buy one. (The nearest shop with any sort of range is an hour's drive away). This is a video of me playing a Pono Mahogany Tenor for anyone contemplating buying one. I am playing an original song I wrote for my daughter called 'music to my ears' (with a bit of random strumming thrown in)

  • Thanks for watching and for the comment.

I'm not sure of the model number but the uke is an all solid mahogany tenor.

I am not playing amplified, and the recording was with a digital camera so it doesn't actually do the sound justice.

  • I'd love to get a recording/tab of this song as well. It's so beautiful!

  • Thankyou! If you would like the tab just send me an email address I can attach a file to.

  • it sounds clear, like rain

  • This is some beautiful sounding uke. It must be plugged in? What model Pono is it?

    Also, nice playing. Thank you.

  • This is the ukulele Amanda Palmer plays :D

  • Spruce is very quiet... don't do it...

  • No worries.

Just give me an email address I can attach a file to and I will send you the tab.

  • I haven't heard or played a spruce top Pono. I would hazard to guess the only difference would be the sound. Mahogany usually makes for a more mellow tone than spruce. If you're after a brighter, louder attack the spruce top would probably suit you better. I tend to like the mellow sound of mahogany for a tenor.

  • I bought this uke from musicguymic in Hawaii over a year ago. I can't remember how much I paid for it, but I do remember that the price was reasonable for a well made solid wood instrument. Check out Mike's ebay site for a current price. Music

City Cairns sometimes has Ponos in stock also. They have an ebay shop, as well as a new website.
