Martha Lou and Louie are both faced with a recent monetary "dirty deed" and in maniacal reaction, destroy the very loot they were after. This story is about escaping economic stricture of family and society. Ultimately, no matter how hard the duo tries to control money; its power remains untenable and abstract; and they are ultimately guided by their inescapable roots and personal nature. Choreographed and directed by Martha Williams (www.themovementmovement.org), performed by Martha Williams and Luke Wiley, sound design by Norm Scott, edited by Erinnisse Heuer, camera by Peter Shapiro. Shown at the Southstreet Seaport Cultural Association, Dancenow at Joe's Pub, Dance New Amsterdam and Chashama.
I like the 1920's tripped out feel with the echoey distortion on the sound. I like so many parts. I like the scissors clicking to the sounds and the slow motion falling dollars at 1:56.
