Much adventure ensues in this final part of WTAIT. With blisters on the feet I'm not 100% but having come this far, we're pressing even if it means blood in the boots. Allie the Mountain dog does well despite some sore paws from the previous day's extensive and rocky hiking. We have broken camp, stowed the big packs, and geared up for the peak bagging. Steep and rocky slopes await after traversing a steeply inclined snow slope. We see some more poorly prepared hikers that pick their way across the snow. After some work we reach the windy knife ridge and its rocky and narrow trail that will lead us to the peak. With all the hiking effort required and the high winds, filming is a real chore but I manage. Allie and LastSuspect are strong hikers and we reach the Summit Hut ("Witch's Hut" as seen in Part 1) in good spirits. The views are amazing as we note the steep drop offs in all directions. It seems the hut is placed on the only flat spot available on the peak. The few people we see along the way do not stay long (like 5 minutes!) and are soon reversing course (they refused to follow us down the Glacier when offered). While we can see cities off in the distant valleys, we seem worlds away from everyone and quite alone up there. No matter, we press on after I plot the route to the Glacier (a different route then the way we came up). The we get to the Cliff. At about 25 feet in height, it's a small obstacle to continue onward but provides plenty of opportunites for injury. Suspect lowers easily with our rope. With him down there, we are now committed to this route and there's no coming back. But Allie struggles in resistance as I lower her in the RuffWear "Approach" pack harness. She's highly trained for this terrain but not for cliff lowering (my bad). I have to be real careful here not to get pulled over the cliff as I try to get her over. I anchor the rope and myself, triple check my setup and my knots, and then basically throw her over the cliff to effect the lowering. It required hair raising and strenuous effort but once I got her free from any cliff holds, it was a simple lowering job. She rips a rear claw out in the drama and bleeds profusely when we examine her. I wrap up her foot in the boot, attempt disinfecting, and onward we go. Then comes the fun of the "Glacier Olympics" as we glissade down this huge snow field. But there's no lowering our guard here either as many people have almost been killed doing what we're doing. Like the whole adventure, we apply common sense, use appropriate care, and fun ensues. Tired from the day's effort, we still don't pause long as we gear up again at the basin back at the campsite (shown in previous parts). With full packs on, we start our long hike out and reach the trailhead at around midnight. This was true alpine adventure that gives us a feeling of accomplishment and some great memories. This was the last day of my "Where the Air is Thin" high mountain adventure, thanks for coming along! ///////////////////////////// Music used with specific permission and licensing: www.youtube.com/user/bryanisms, www.youtube.com/user/eldudio, and Fireproof Babies.

  • Hey Nutn and Veri. Great video series. I hesitated for a long time because of the length of all the episodes. I'm so glad I took the plunge. You already had me feeling like I need to take the camping plunge and this just added to it. I've probably watched the whole series 3 times and now my son is watching with me as well. Looking forward to our adventures. Keep up the good work.

  • @NeverQuitEver Thank you so much for watching, and we're glad you took the plunge too! =) -- Veri

  • wonderful

  • You and Last Suspect are champ style. That looks like so much fun.

  • This is my favorite series yet. "Cadillac, baby!" I was busting up by that point.

I'm very impressed with all the technical skills used here. I would like to see anyone who says these are staged stunts go up there and try this hike (more like a climb.) Working with your son and dog, especially on the descent from the summit must take an immense amount of confidence, which only comes from experience.

  • @epicblade529 noodles come in the cup. you just add hot water, and they cook in the cup.

  • what a great video. allie the mountain dog seems very well trained, but i couldnt help but laugh when she started sliding down the glacier. looks like a great trip, and i have an idea of where this is, but dont worry, i would never give away the secrets. another great video, and thanks again nutn.

  • I love the haters speech at the beginning, hahaha, it's so true!

    Keep the good stuff coming!

  • The harder it is the greater the payoff. You mean you get more if you wark harder? What a concept!
