A magic trick with a Prince Rupert's Drop. This is more of a physics trick than a magic trick. The thin end of the tail is simply broke off and the entire blob of glass shatters. Cool visual!

  • This is funny. Breaking the fine tail off of a Prince Rupert's Drop (thats what your "glass teardrop" is called) causes it to explode into many small fragments - well dust really. This is because the drop has been cooled extremely quickly in a bucket of water causing enormous uneven stresses in the glass. The bulb end will withstand large amounts of pressure, but simply breaking off the fine tail causes it to explode.

  • Every magic trick is an illusion. He's doing what all the other magicians do, which is hide the how it come to be and show you the unusual.
