I like the horn boards sold on Ebay best, they have the right kind of edge, not too round, not too sharp. At my school (Pacific College Oriental Medicine), I was taught using a coin and a Chinese soup spoon.

I actually just learned this in class today using, you guessed it, jar lids! Mason jar lids are preferable, but if you think that's disturbing, you should know that in China they use shells, coins, and other objects to perform the same procedure.
