**THESE VIDEOS ARE MADE USING AN ELECTRICAL MOISTURE METER BY SOMEONE WITH NO EXPERIENCE OF SURVEYING STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. THEY ARE DESIGNED AS INFORMATIONAL TOOLS TO PROMPT FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY NOTTINGHAM CITY HOMES, AND MAKE NO INFERENCES AS TO THE SOURCE OF HIGH READINGS. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN DISTINGUISH AS TO WHETHER THE HOME SUFFERS FROM STRUCTURAL DISREPAIR ATTRIBUTED TO HIGH MOISTURE READINGS AND CRUMBLING PLASTER, IS A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS AND TOOLS TO ASSESS SAMPLES OF THE AFFECTED AREAS.***

Damp meters are by no means an assurance that walls are suffering from any kind of water permeation from outside: I'm not a qualified Surveyor and do not possess the relevant tools and knowledge to make this assessment. However, they do measure conductivity between the two nodes which should be low or zero when testing a dry, normal structural mass, I would imagine.
This footage shows the meter reading the interior sections around our porch, and seems to be detecting high levels of conductivity around the lower section of the plastered exterior wall, which has recently been treated with anti-fungal paint to stop the mould growth.
As one can see, the meter is tested on a dry, interior wall and sections of the affected area and picks up no cause for concern. Once we progress to the lower regions of the affected wall, resistance between the nodes gets lower and lower, thus indicating a source of increased conductivity.
The footage continues to show high conductivity and also shows that the anti-fungal paint (applied on the 18th January 2010) is still wet after 8 days on certain sections, whilst other sections of the same wall are unaffected.
