@m5p944 Do this, then come back with the remark you just said .

@cownuttz70 You should. You can only benefit from full squats. If you can even do it. 90% of athletes can't even sit down anymore. Stronger knees, tendons and ligaments comminf form full squats. OIympic weightlifters are the only ones who understands explosive power. Whatch and learn.

A squat? Looks like somebody doesn't know the difference between squat and squat lockouts. Olympic weightlifters are laughfing their asses off right now. You just gave up on 75% of full squat movement. Why?

he may be no pat mendes when it comes to squatting, but he just did 585 11 times. not many could say they can do it

@LunchtimeLoonies This type of training works for me and has gotten my shot putting to 66.3 feet with the 16lb shot. THis was in January. So, with the peak of strength I break it down to more speed work. This takes about 4 months after strength peak to get a 'sport peak' which happened in the end of May. Hopefully I can time it perfectly to hit a big throw next year. I believe my max distance for my ability (genetic and worked for) is 68 feet. So, we will see what happens!

@cownuttz70 Thanks very much. Your response makes a lot of sense. You're very strong and I hope this transfers to your Shot well. I would definitely ignore the uneducated masses in the responses...they neither have the time to put in the work on the training or the technique that you obviously do. I'm glad I finally had this question answered! Cheers.

@LunchtimeLoonies ... I get full range of motion leg movements (lunge, step ups etc) in when I am in a shorter range of motion squat.... WHen ever I front squat I go into the hole.... it really depends on what time of the year I am in. Do I hold the bar high on back or low.... I do both. I try to train all aspects of athleticism. You can see that in my video of me longsnapping and my other videos. Hope this helps.
ps... check out other videos... was my Clean a low enough catch for you? Was that not ass to ground? This is a training plan for elite shot putters... not for gym class heroes.

1) this is 3/4's range of motion. 2) I will never max out a high rep routine like this bellow parallel. 3) Bellow parallel squats are in only 1-2 phases of my years training (late summer early fall) 4) my sport (shot putting) benefits from all range of motions to allow overall adaption. At peak phase I only do 1/2-1/4 range of motion squats and jumps. It transfers over to my sport and most sports... where as full squats do not transfer to sport in any peak phase other than 'Olympic Lifting"
