I litsen to all sorts of music(really). And in my eyes slipknot will never be death metal. If you want to litsen to Slipknot then it's fine but dispite arguments i would never label then under death metal. If you listen to the first bands that fell under Death Metal, they're not growling either, but were leaning more towards Thrash Metal.

Actually, according to "Choosing Death: The improbably History of Death Metal and Grindcore," a book about the history of said genres, plus Black Metal, it explains that Slipknot technicaaly does fall under Death Metal. It's never been said that a Death Metal band HAS to growl for it to be considered that. Instrument-wise, they meet the requirements, and they THEMSELVES say it, and HATE being labeled as "Nu Metal." Limp Bizkit and Korn are Nu Metal.
