A few laps in a Spec Racer Ford during the SCCA weekend on 9/28/2008. The video is from my teammates car, John Tecce. I am driving the Orange SRF. We are working together, using the draft to pull away from the pack behind us. That's why you see him getting so close to the back of my car and having to lift out of the throttle. It's faster at Daytona for two cars to run together like this, than 1 car could ever be by itself. This video shows the start of the race, up until I get forced off in the kink, by an F500 car. I did another lap until the engine got too hot, from grass in the radiator, when I pulled into the pits.

  • Looks like you were in third...unless that white car was lapped.

  • Leading in class.

  • The orange car is now sitting in my garage.

  • Treat her well and she'll do the same to you! :) That car has carried me to a few wins in the past (and what would have likely been another one here...)

  • Great laps! Sad too see that happen though.

  • Good racing!!!

  • LOL. Why did you even try to avoid the lil prick? I would have rolled over top the dumbass or turned into him and did a P.I.T. manuver on him. He was obviously trying to run too hot into the left hander and use your car as a safety wall (8 wheels hold track better than 4).

  • @JonMiller34 My bad, was thinking you were in the camera car. He is either power shifting or not timing the lift correctly. The engine rpm is clearly going up during every upshift before the next gear is catching. Perhaps my terminology is off (is power shifting not using the clutch at all maybe?) but my point is that the driver of the camera car is still on the throttle when he depresses the clutch, hence the "weird sounding shifts". It's really NOT good on these off the shelf clutches.

  • @Phantom9192 I'm in the Orange car. I'm not power shifting and neither is the car that the camera is attached to.

  • @Ghostca It's not even close on iRacing, and 120MPH in a sim is going to feel boring when you can compare it to another car that can do 60-80MPH more than that. In real life SRF's are an absolute blast to drive, and even more fun to race.

  • @JonMiller34

It "sounds weird" because you're power-shifting - shifting without lifting off the gas. Either that or the timing of your cluch/gas maneuver is off. That's not good on an SRF clutch, fwiw.

  • Have you tried the SRF in iRacing? How does it compare to the real car? I find the Spec ford in iRacing the least enjoyable to drive.

  • What a silly boneheaded move.
