I needed a microphone blimp for my new long shotgun mic. Rather than drop $350 to $750 for one, I decided to build my own - it's GREAT, and here's how I did it!

nice and innovative means of making one.

I don't know what your final cost was, but you can now purchase Blimps from thecinecity starting at $92 and they come with the dead cat.

and the quality is very good.

I use mainly wireless Lav, and my shotgun mic is dirt cheap (in other words not worth using) so I currently don't have a need for the blimp, but if I did thats the one I would get, or if I had the time I would just make one like you did. simple and effective.

Actually, these tubes aren't available at BigR's website, but I found them in plumbing at the store - I believe, (they're unmarked, and no one seemed to know EXACTLY what they are), that they're some sort of pump debris filter. They're stainless steel, spot welded at the seem.
