Marcel Kramer, CEO of the proposed South Stream natural gas pipeline from Russia to Europe, says that he was not told beforehand of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's idea to scrap the pipeline and replace it with a liquefied natural gas plant. In an interview with Steve LeVine of The Oil and the Glory, the blog at Foreign Policy magazine, also said that the global natural gas revolution has helped to shift the debate in Europe among leaders worried about Russia's gas dominance on the continent. He made the remarks at CERA Week, the oil conference in Houston.
