Polish Wilno & St.Casimir Market (Kaziuki) in 1936
NOTE: Thiis documentary movie was made shortly before II World War by the Germans (original version, with German comment, is also available in YT) and with the Lithuanian subtitles, which were added later, when that Polish city started in October 1939 - as the Lithuanian capital - the completely new chapter in its history. A short commentary in the end of my clip adds some historical background to the unbelievable tragedy of Polish inhabitants of Wilno in the years 1939-45. First - the Soviet occupation in September 1939 with the NKWD arrests and deportations of the Poles, then due to the Lithuanian-Soviet pact in October 1939 - the repressions on the Polish citizens, who were declared foreigners with no right to work or to use their native language - then, the repressions carried on by the Lithuanian-Nazi collaborative government, being co-responsible for the mass executions of the Polish intelligentsia in Ponary near Wilno as well as the homicide of almost 100 percent of the Polish Jewry in Wilno; then Soviet occupation again, with new mass deportations to the East of the remnants of Poles, as well as the cruel annihilation of the Polish anti-nazi and anti-communist resistance. In 1945, a handful of Polish survivors each of them with one-two suitcases left their beloved city forever, moving Westwards to Warsaw, Gdańsk or Toruń

@PvPcleric You are right Lithuanians built Wilno but not Lithuanians from Samogitia but primarily Polish speaking Lithuanians. Poland saved you from the Teutonic Order then helped you to become civilized. Your aristocratic families accepted Polish as their native language (Radziwiłłowie, Sapieha) and became Polish of their own free will. Polish nobility "adopted" Lithuanian families and granted them Polish coats of arms read about Union of Horodło.

My father was born there in 1933. I am not sure why they were there....because they were from Germany. I have family in Poland (famous Polish actor, artist and professor) but he and his wife died in a fire and none of the remaining relatives want to communicate with their American cousins. This video helped me understand more about where my father came from. He did not talk about his life very much, and he has been gone for many years. Thanks for posting this video.

Ok I have carefully red your comments. Do you really think that the reason is always necessary to hate someone or something. Look at Nazi Germany, look at Soviet Russia. My point is that you are European Nation in XXI century but behave like those bastards. You are teaching your children in schools how to hate other people. I am giving you an example and you are justify that half brain teacher. Sorry but I can not imagine the same scenario in Poland schools. That guy should instantly lost his job!
