but when I see this video:
"...wanna start the movie player... *BAM* it's there!"
And one moment later appears an error message :D

okay... ive got an aspire one right here... and there was a time... in this time there was a linpus-distribution installed on it. but then it suddenly broke down, so i installed it a second time. but it brokes again.
to say it in 3 words: i hate linpus!
but this video is cool and maybe they improove some things so that it doesn't crash even if you want to start an application with vine :D

I think it was like 14 seconds...
but my laptop can wake up from standby in just around 4 seconds. a laptop like acer one is so light that u won't even care to take the battery out which can disrupt standby mode. so where is this all going??

Personally I'd like to see a writer of some variety or the other incorporated into the quickstarts, that way if I need to get something down and get nit down fast I don't have to wait for the whole OS to boot up, I can just write it and go...

I don't have a netbook, but I do have a company laptop that I'm required to always have handy. I don't carry my personal laptop around because of this, and the company doesn't allow us to use the laptop for personal things. Soooo, I keep Linux Mint on a flash card. Boots fast, doesn't hurt the laptop, and has everything I already need.

No need to worry about compilation of stuff with Ubuntu.
You just download a CD image from ubuntu (dot) com. Burn a CD. Boot the computer from the CD. You can see how it all works. If you like what you see, you just install it from the boot options.
If something is not working as it should. The Ubuntu forums are very helpful.
MSN works just great via an included application called Pidgin.
