It's my father and I representing the Laos culture at the 2007 Mosaic. The style of the Laos sword dance ("fon dap") originated from soldiers that defended the country in war hundred of years ago. The dancing moves can be tied back into actual fighting moves used in battle. During the New Year celebration the soldiers would come and dance incorporating their fighting skills. Over time, this became a type of dance. There are many variations to the Laos sword dance. This one in particular was developed by my father from my his many years as a martial arts teacher and student and his knowledge of Laos history.

@Jenfuscius the magic power came from kai-yaar..meaning chicken @ herb ..i'm not telling more than that..we give away muay-lao but not the magic power..now a day that people called it muay-thai chaiya..but originaly came from muay-lao..called muay-kai-yaar..pretty long story no one really knows where that came from..some old people from laos wanted that to be our secrets :-)
