Eumetsat Images of the volcanic ash from Iceland that is stopping all domestic flights in the UK on 15th of April 2010. This is what grounded the UK flights.

That is quite a bit of ash.

  • #VIDEOPOSTERID#, now there in fact is a good site that people can goto for you to watch full television shows, sport matches and movies. It's over at "stream episodes (DOT) net" plus I take advantage of it every single day to watch each and every one of the television episodes I miss.

  • @fiestastmans u notice the start of huge bad things happening? oil leeks acros the ocean, fires evrywer, volcanoes... maybe we are for dead?

  • @MahNameIsMatt You're right about that. he sulfates are a product of airplane emission(and volcanoes), but I'm not talking about brown clouds. These sulfates specifically are a direct cause of misty white clouds, which reflect more shortwave radiation away from the earth which makes it cooler.

  • @haider87 This is called pollution, not clouds, though you could argue that they are indeed referenced as 'brown clouds' in many parts.

  • @MahNameIsMatt They create small particles in their emissions that bind to water vapor in the atmosphere and result in the formation of foggy clouds that increase the earth's reflectivity, so less of the suns energy makes it to the earth.

  • @haider87 But it's plausible, and likely, that this effect is conuteracting the increase in temperature caused by a human-caused increase in greenhouse gases. This hints that the effects of industrial emmsions might be worse than we think.

  • @shadow2951 This is true to an extent. I'm not sure if your numbers are right, but people are very quick to shut you down. Airplanes do create particulates, and there are many of them in the sky at any given moment. These particles can, and do affect the weather in a very specific way by altering the Earth's albedo, and thus, how much energy is reflected away from the earth. The magnitude of this effect does not compare to that of a large scale eruption like this one or pinatubo.

  • @Electrodeposit If god took America and lobbed you into the abyss, we would still not "miss" the US!!
