  • Well jerky, I really dont know!

It could depend on the solid, or the lack of knowledge we had programming 5-axis in Edgecam then!

A whole different possibility could be the machine not able to process the amount of coordinates needed to make it smooth!

    We are wiser now!

  • If I remember right this machine has water-cooled spindles and can hold precision within a few microns.

  • Controller runs Windows...

  • Edgecam rocks! Very nice tool path. Compare this to the impeller demo using Surfscam and you will see why Edgecam takes the cake. That jerking is the high speed forward and reverse motion along the surface profile. Slowing the cut feed would eliminate that, but why would you want to. It is only a visual thing.

  • I don't think it's machine problem as the C-axis has some small back and forwards moves. Maybe a new designed drivesurface with smoother internals could solve the problem and then just compensate to the true part surface.

  • From 2:15 and forward the tool motion is very jerky:(
