@chrisapero Not Franz Gockel, that was Heinrich Severloh who shoot Mg42 and after the gun jammed he used the karabiner.

in an interview franz gockel said that after he expend all of his MG-ammo he used his rifle of which 4 of 5 shots were hits, he said that he thinks he killed a few hundred soldiers by himself (sry for the english)

Lol, they made him walk home? He should've jumped a train or something. There's a good documentary about D-Day featuring Gockel but the only version I've found uploaded to YouTube is auf deutsch.
