  • I find it amazing that I can't find "The Twist" on YouTube by Hank Ballard. Please, somebody post it. It was a much better version than C. Checker's cover. Thanks

  • @Jinnylee2000 Its probably not posted because it has been copyrighted.....Youtube is very anal about that. They removed a few songs i have posted in the past!!!

  • Very underrated song. I'm glad to see that some people are looking at some of the more underrated artists from one of the best eras for music.

  • Thanks Jim

  • It's amazing that this side was the hit (here in Boston) even though it was great. The flip of the Twist was played a little but not as much as it was when Chubby took it all the way. I understand that Hank's Twist was only a hit in Texas and Baltimore when it first came out.

  • now were talkin real soul music

  • hank ballard,a giant,a genius, and a true professional!!!. thank you very much for the treat here. Tom D

  • Been flipping between Brook Benton's 'Only just a matter of time' and this tune. Do I hear some similarities there? Well what do you know.

  • WHAT CAN A GUY SAY ABOUT HANK, . JUST THE BEST MUSIC EVER. PORKY CHEDWICK WAS THE ONLY DJ IN PITTSBURGH , WAMO, PLAYING THE HANK BALLARD SOUNDS IN THOSE DAYS. WE KNEW AND LOVE HANK BALLARD BECAUSE OF PORKY

  • This one takes me way back.

  • The best..

  • Your right this side hit first in SF, but that's

because this was the A side (the one King records promoted) and 'The Twist'

was the B side or the throw away side.

I lived thru this era in the SF Bay Area and we

almost always got it right on what musically

    was the better side.

Only when 'The Twist' became a dance craze by Chubby Checker, did anyone go back and

    listen to Hank Ballard's original.

I agree Hank Ballard and the Midnighters

should be in the 'Hall of Fame' together
