http://YourGeekNews.com for more! After having our hopes for a good Japanese cartoon adaptation dashed by the Wachowskis Speed Racer, our hopes were high for Imagi Studios to bring us some good old-fashioned CGI manga true to the original. And bring it they did. In the form of a very well made kids movie that brought us both back to the early 80s. And treated us like we had the same brainpower we had in the 80s. A childrens movie 100%, Astro Boy fires on all cylinders for kids, and gives parents a good excuse to watch a cartoon inspired by their own childhood. So if you don't have any, go borrow some kids from someone you know, and youll look right at home in the theatre!

This movie wasn't Tezuka-ish enough. They should have at least watched the 1960's anime before they reviewed this movie, then they would understand what I mean by "Tezuka-ish", The movie wasn't horrible, but it could've been much better,

needed more emotional edge like the original anime. Robot design was poor. What happened to that beautiful Japanese mecha anime. They need to make it more like 2:00 hours to 2:15 hours given it a greater edge in the lost of a child. Astro's feelings being not real while the entire story folds with more action. Astro fights with the pain of not being human no more giving him a little darker edge.
