Bored, after a generation of the blessings of peace and prosperity, out forefathers were compelled to engage in an innane war of unparelled destruction. All this -to the end- that nobody won and everybody lost. If ever there was a war that did not need to be fought and was fought for reasons which only served to justify the emotionally obtuse, well, WW1 was that war.

Ypres, the nightly playing of the'Last Post' at the Menin Gate, the people, and the surrounding battlefield tour operators make visiting this region extremely satisfying in so many ways. These magnificent men who were slaughtered around this area shall never be forgotten, the locals ensure it.

@Thejoshlfc97 I'm from around there and I can tell you it's really good, the guides can really make you feel the war, and everywhere you look on the landscape you see the graves of all kinds of soldiers. It''s a place that's chaped by war. . .

The picture of those men at 104 in the hedgerow, do you know the regiment? I have been looking for the picture for ages. It shows the group of men before they were wiped out.
yer i did 2 years ago it was really good :) u see all the diffrennt war memorials and graves,also the best part is going in the underground trenches :)
