Believe it or not, Breakdowns were started in the metal genre of Brutal Death Metal, then a technical death metal band by the name of Suffocation took up breakdowns. They became the one of the first deathcore bands. Now, go listen to some Slamming Brutal Death Metal and tell me that's not a Br00tal breakdown.
