Here is another installment of From My Book Shelf. This week I have a great book of Mathew Brady's work that talks about his early career and how and why he photographed the Civil War.

One of the reason I purchased this book a few years ago was the size. I love seeing the historic images that are inside and thinking how in the world did they capture these over 150 years ago. The quality of the images are amazing considering the type of equipment they had at the time.

If you are into historic images and the stories behind the this is a great book to ad to your Bookshelf.

  • Jared, do you use any filters?

  • @alexandros19842304 none at all. the only one I could see using would be a CP for landscapes or shooting threw glass.

  • this is interesting! ^^ you could be teaching this in schools! ;)

  • From my bore shelf *yawn* boring.

  • @afeklol actually if you go way back in his videos, he did read books like The Giving Tree and stuff, it was cool

  • I just learned about all of this today in class!!!! AWESOME!!!

  • Jared i i recently started college going to an art school for film and im taking a black and white Photo, really enjoy that class and find your videos very helpful especially the walk through of the Canon 60D due to my recent purchase of it and im loving class and my first DSLR!!

  • ran out of room in the last post but just wanted to say how much Ive enjoyed the first two episodes of this series, cant wait to see who you have next for us.

  • love the original photographers, I recall that there was a bit of controversy concerning Brady's staff of photographers as that put into doubt how many photos he physically shot himself; but his contribution to photography is undoubted, the images from gettysburg still burn in my mind, so powerful.

war photography is something I find fascinating, talk about pushing your dedication to capturing the moment. The later work of Robert Capa, Don McCullin and Philip Jones Griffiths really hits a nerve

  • @Drummerstefen 27" imac probs nice specs on it if you look on the apple site you'll see the specs on the 27's
