This is my first guitar build. I started in August, 2010 and finished in January, 2011. It's a two-piece alder body from Warmoth and a birdseye-maple neck with an ebony fretboard also from Warmoth. Dimarzio Area '58, Area '67, Area '61, pickups adorn this guitar with awesomeness. Hand-made quilted maple veneered pickguard and everything else are finished with tru-oil and Arm-R-Seal oil poly blend. I am very satisfied with its looks and sound. Sorry I didn't have a better amp to showcase it with!

  • did that shiny, yellowy finish really come from just true oil and armour seal? im in the process of sanding down my pbass body and love that finish!

  • @JamesRRM Yep!

  • How long did it take you to build it?

  • @HavocBillz the actual build would have taken less time, but including planning and shipping time it took about 6 months. You can't rush it if you want it to be one you'll really enjoy playing...

  • hi James, what kind of bridge did you use? gracias!

  • @jazzlefty I used a hardtail bridge (no tremelo) from Warmoth.com. I believe it has vintage string spacing...

  • artful design - would like you to demonstrate its sound more - perhaps a part II demo vid.

  • Beautiful guitar! I love the neck pup position, always my fav. Sounds just as great as any top strat!

  • that pick guard is very nice, real creativity there, rest of your guitar is awesome too.

  • dude, that's awesome. I have yet to get a rippin classic strat and I'm convinced on getting those Dimarzio single coils. I've got Dimarzios in just about every humbucker guitar I've got and they're all so expressive and amazing. Congratulations on your new toy!

  • congrats ....greeat job

  • Nice build! I'm curious about the wiring. Can you post a diagram or a link to one?
