Hi People , I wish Americans dont just think in terms of America , but of all Humanity. I think for good or bad , Humanity is going to share the basic values of living - through the trying times ahead of us. I think communities of people have to help eachother , live off the land and live organically - and most importantly , learn to respect Mother Nature ( we worship Goddess Earth here in India). Love to All.

how will you buy food when the u.s dollar will not be worth anything thanks to the federal reserve. Think about it.

That's my point exactly. Buy food and obtain supplies NOW, right NOW because later might be too late.

Speaking of a depression, I spoke with my 92 year old Grandmother the other day about it. She said times were so hard, but they made it ok because they lived in the mountains...however for people who lived in the cities, she said they were starving and living in tents. She said robbery was commonplace. She told me they never would have made it, if it had not been for the food they grew, and the animals they raised.

Dehydration is an excellent way to preserve food, and it does not require refrigeration. The lower cost dehydrators work just fine. I strongly suggest in investing in a vacuum sealer to keep the food fresh. Dehydrated food, when properly stored..can last for 30 years. Usually you can get food grade buckets and lids for free from restaurants. These can be used to store pouches of dehydrated food, that's what I do. I'm dehydrating almost all of my garden this year.

Don't give your food away, dehydrate it instead for the lean times ahead.

I was just reading this comment and thought that person will trade you something for that ammo. Load a gun, kill you, take all your stuff, and while he drinks the liquor and smokes the tobacco, he laughs at what a dumb ass you were for giving him ammo he didn't have. Careful who you empower!

For those of limited means, buy Silver & Junk Silver. Buy barterable goods like ammunition. .22, .223, 9mm, .45, 12 gauge 00 or 000 buckshot will all be highly barterable. For those comfortable on the fringes, things like hard liquor, wine, and cigarettes will also be highly barterable items, though I don't recommend those items if one wants to stay as safe as possible. Remember, if you have highly valued items, you have to very careful about those distribution unless you can defend them.
