@KnightOfLightning Since Shrek never existed, Farquaad never married Fiona, because Shrek was the only one who could rescue her and make him king. He's probably in the state he was in the beginning of Shrek 1

It didn't make as much money as they wanted. (even though it was actually quite a financial success (and a much better movie then Shrek 3.)
Otherwise there would have been a fifth movie, but then that one would have been the last.
