Most people go to the Gym to get in shape but for one local man, lifting weights has become a way of life.
Photojournalist Mike Lee caught up with Willard Haith at Fitness Today in Greensboro to see the local man who pushes the limits to slow the affects of aging.
If you ask people around the gym how old Willard is they might tell you early seventies or early eighties. Most would be surprised to know that Willard is 91 years old and will turn 92 in September. Willard says "I don't feel like I'm no 91, I feel like I'm 50 or 60; something like that."
Willard had a heart attack and bypass surgery in 1986. He took up exercising to stay healthy. Gym members say the 91-year-old weight lifter is an inspiration. They watch him come in to exercise and say the normal 91-year-old doesn't look like Mr. Willard.
Willard is happy to be able to do his own cooking, washing, and cleaning. His last check-up with the doctor shows that he is in good health. The doctor even said he hoped to live to be 91 and look and feel like Willard does.
