  • I add my thanks for all these crystal-clear videos from King's College. This American never really knew of the tradition of carols and lessons there each Christmas, but I'm glad you introduced me to these performances. Just lovely.

  • @bluetruckredstate So happy I am adding to your enjoyment of Christmas, and thanks too, to Kings!

  • beautiful angelic voices! I love this song, thank you for uploading.

  • This is not Angels from the Realms of Glory, this is a hybrid of AFTRG and Angels we have heard on high.

  • @qantasCapt

There are lyrics to both at this website: ldsguy(dot)tripod(dot)com/Christmas(dot)carols(dot)html

I don't know how accurate any of them are or which came first but it seems the version in this video is pulling from both. Either way, I think this is a beautiful carol.

    Merry Christmas!

  • @qantasCapt That's what it is. I am of French heritage myself, and in fact I first knew the carol as "Les anges dans nos campagnes," but I did grow up Anglican-Epicopal (about as high church as one can get in America), and I too know it as "Angels We Have Heard on High." There is an alternate melody in the 1940 Anglican Hymnal I grew up singing from, that is quite majestic, for "Angels From the Realms of Glory."

  • @coolmountaingirl - NO it's not! I've been listening to this for 50 years now (hate to admit it & in Mid-life crisis!), but "Angels From the Realms of Glory" has always been to the first line of this Xmas carol - atleast in the Anglican church. Perhaps you're American....?

  • Thanks it cheers me up !!

  • @coolmountaingirl. Listen to the first line. Hear that? "Angels from the realms of glory".

It's true, however, that Americans sing the Heard on High one to this tune (as was recently covered by Glee, I believe). It's quite common for hymns to be sung to different tunes in different countries. This combination is very common in Britain. I think you'll find that the version of this you know has exactly the same lyrics, just a different tune.

  • This is a beautiful performance, but the name of this hymn is "Angels We Have Heard On High". "Angels From the Realms of Glory" is an entirely different hymn.

  • BRAVISSIMI!!!!!!!
