Temper is the amount of stress an object can take without breaking. To lose one's temper basically means that you have broken, you have been defeated, you no longer work. The person who produces the stimuli to create the reaction OWNS YOU. I would think that is not a place anyone wants to be.

@chackers. Again, your statement is too broad. It is more accurate to say something like, "There is a violent element in America." or "There are too many violent Americans." Your statement is still very much an over-generalization, not to mention --- it's simply untrue. My guess is statistics would not bear out your claim that the violent/uneducated/overfed population out-numbers the alternative population. For whatever reason, you obviously have strong feelings against Americans.

@wttwmusic "Americans are violent" is a statement of the general character of the population, with respect to the rest of the world. It's a bizarre misinterpretation to think I meant every single American is violent/undereducated/overfed (despite the obesity epidemic). There are MANY who don't match this description: unfortunately, the sad fact of the matter is that they're far out-numbered by the aforementioned. Travel abroad, and you'll see it's so.
