herring fishing

A short Video of the Herring Fishery as it goes on in French Creek near Parksville on Vancouver island.
The Fishery is usually very short - 3 to 4 days I think, but hundreds of thousands of tons of herring go out of here mainly to the Japanese market for their eggs. They are a very expensive item in Japan. Then people wonder why the salmon fishery is so bad....... MAYBE ITS BECAUSE MOST OF THEIR FEED FISH IS NOW GONE? Just a thought that comes to mind......Oh well, nobody listens anyway...
