  • Ok,ive had my braces to straight my relatively crooked teeth and overbite type 2 "II" i believe since october and i'll have them for 2 years. My overbite has resulted in having a poor jawline with sunken in chin and it is my biggest feature which makes me so self conscience,i assumed my ortho was fixing this by pulling my bottom jaw forward, but thinking about it when i pull my bottom jaw forward my teeth dont meet at the back so would she be pulling my top row BACK?To add to a awful jaw?PLEASE NO

  • @4RealandTruth A lower jaw that is set back can be treated with orthodontic & orthopedic correction in a person who is still growing. In an adult or non-growing person Jaw surgery would be required. The best person to ask about what is going on with your treatment is your orthodontist. Ask them the exact same question and they will tell you what your treatment plan is, and what you can expect. Even if your Jaw position can't be corrected with Ortho, there are Chin implants.

  • I have a question, its been over 4-5 months since iv gone to my dentist of my braces. Bu i can go any more cuz i dont have the money n my parents arent going to finish playing them. Iv looked for a job so i can pay for my braces bu its not going well. Is it possible i can take my own braces off? Iv already pulled out one of the ankers because it got loose n was causeing pain. N the ruber bands that keep the wire in place are coming off. So yea, can i take them off myself?

    Thanks

  • @TheOmniSoldier It is not a good idea to do that on your own. You could break a tooth and cause serious damage to your teeth. Even if you get all the brackets off the glue will still be on your teeth which can cause problems as well. The best solution is to call your orthodontist and let them know you are having trouble paying for your treatment and see what they can work out for you. We are resonable and will understand.

    Good Luck

  • question my dentist already removed my braces.but i want to put it back bec.i lost my retainers is it possible to use my old braces? thanks

  • @Ming3977 No it is not. Hopefully you were seeing an ORTHODONTIST, not just a general dentist to do your braces. Orthodontists have 2-3 yrs specialized training to get you the best, most stable results possible. You should contact your orthodontist & see what they can do for you.

    Good Luck
