You can see both space cone and body cone. The purple angular velocity vector w rotates around the y-axis on the space cone. The space-fixed axes are shown in red, the body-fixed axes are green. The top could be identical with the body cone.

    Yes, it certainly is, for this case. Body cone (centered by the angular velocity vector) rolls around the space cone (centered by the angular momentum vector).

  • Is it correct that the speed of the points on the cone that coincide with the purple vector (at a certain time) have zero speed relative to the x,y,z axes?
