  • Don' t be ridiculous we are talking about charged off credit card debt here!

  • I understand why everyone is buying into this. Many of us are in debt and we want someone to tell us its ok not to pay our bills. But we know that its not ok. We know that we sign contracts agreeing to pay later for goods and services recieved. Then later comes and we can't adhere to the agreement. The creditor, however, can and does. This results in everything from letters to liens and should come as no surprise because WE signed for it. Best way to stop a bill collector, PAY YOUR BILL!

  • The slip notice that you sign to use the credit card is NOT a contract. There is only one signature, and it's not the banks money you are using. It is your own credit you are using and paying interest on. There is no money in our economy. There is only debt and credit. The credit card bank must charge off bad debt in 180 days, therefore you no longer owe anyone anything. The bank owes you a 1099 for you to pay the tax. We have won court cases on these arguments.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I just don't understand why most people are so goddam ignorant, gullible, and naive when it comes to all this. But again, these are the type of folks who these predatory private debt collectors leech off & try to take advantage of. People need to be more knowledgeable and informative of our laws pertaining to debt collection practices & our rights as consumers.

  • We should pay our bills--but it's WRONG for banks to charge exhorbitant late fees and set traps for consumers to accidentally send their payments late. It's WRONG for high school counselors to tell students to go to college without warning them about student loan debt. And by the way, the state of California is going broke--there is going to be a projected $28 billion deficit in the state budget over the next 18 months. Maybe the state is going to get collections calls. LOL.

  • NOPE. Not all debt collectors are good, but there are both Federal and State laws meant to protect the consumer. There is the FDCPA, TCPA, and others. PLUS, ALL agencies report to the OCC
