A cult in Mexico has been growing to worship the Santa Muerte or Holy Death, a kind of female incarnation of the Grim Reaper. In this pod, VC2 producer Ioan Grillo and Journalist Daniel Hernandez go deep into Santa Muerte's spiritual center in Tepito, an old market neighborhood in the heart of Mexico City, which has long been associated with the criminal underworld to learn more about this new religious movement gaining traction at the fringe of mexican culture.

  • The only One who has conquered death is Jesus Christ. The only way one will see eternal life and not eternal damnation is through belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What's sad is people are being mislead to hell. When God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. There is no other Name by which a man can be saved except the Name of Jesus. No one comes to the Father except by Him!!

  • demonic! historically people were able to hide pagan worship begin the guise of roman catholicism and its worship of patron saints and thus you get stuff like this. This is what happens when the traditions of men are taken above the Scriptures and sound doctrine. Out of traditions of men people add whatever they want and create something that has nothing to do with salvation which is available only in Jesus Christ. satan himself mascerades as an angel of light...but SM is so obviously demonic

  • Can nayone even BEGIN to argue that Mexico isn't an evil society?

  • The idea of worshipping death has never before been open to my mind. Yet, we know of many icons of death who are represented in various ways. For instance, Baron Samedi, and Hecate, the Martyrs of Islam to name only three. Yet, to worship death in a Saint is really interesting. I enjoyed the video and the various reasons why Santa Muerte has a history which probably dates back a long time.
