  • :-) A real inspiration! I just came back from India and I want to do this in Africa after I finish my MBA!

  • for such a long time, i thought it was just me who found bono/geldoff patrinizing 'AID' worriers.

  • Congrats Dambisa for igniting the debate this very important subject on "sid to Africa". You are absolutely right that the record is clear about it; many western country control not only the regimes that receive the aid, but also control what the project the socalled aid should be destined to.

No surprise then that it doesn't produce the long term growth that the recipient countries need; in many cases it actually fuel arm conflict; because the way to capture the wealth is to sease power.

  • We need more africans giving donations to build schools,hospitals,bridges...Africans need to learn to give back to their community. We don't need people to come back to the village from the capital city or the western world with a Mercedes, but with an idea to make the village self sufficient. That would create a movement, and soon a revolution. So my question to Moyo would be: " How many schools have you built in Africa that entitle you to make such bold statement?"That's the change we need.

  • I suppose some people think we should be grateful that they are jumping on the micro financing bandwagon, 10 years after the fact, once everything they put their faith in in the financial markets collapsed at their feet. But all I see is another Johnny come lately predator looking to get her piece of the action now that their preferred financing models and hedge funds have proven to be abject failures.

Dambisa Moyo, you are transparent, and I see right through you.
