Dance is beyond, form and gender ... This lady (oppsss) SHOULD stop talking... Its her small mind talking.. people pardon her and ignore her comments..... Lakshmi Vishwanathan.. shame on you....
the lord is neither male nor female...so much talk of feminine and masculine ! Chavunistic views of India...Grow up and see that the world is changing...Nattuvanars like Kattumanar danced in the last 19th Century grow up grow up grow up
Most of the male bharatanatyam dancer are so feminine as they seem to be so infused with feminine characters of the dance. These in fact scares majority of males who wish to take bharatanatyam dance. I believe that the Dance itself is neutrally sexless and the One who take the character of the dance potrays it as male or female according to the part...Male and Female Principle of Dance is the Shiva Shakthi form, both Masculine and Feminine. Charles Ma is good example how a male should dance.
5 Reasons why she said so 1. shes a lesbian 2.she had divorced her husband who is a dancer 3.Her husband hates dance. 4.Her husband cant dance .5.She cant make her son dance .... SHE WILL HAVE TO ADMIT ANY OF THESE
this lady might be good in her abhinaya pieces...she's horrid in her nrtta....and executes nrtta in madhya kaalam.....i don't envy her dance...so much of superficiality in her dance...as a senior artiste she should be careful with her choice of words...i find male dancers are more dedicated than females
@pratyagatchaami True! I think this woman is highly unconscious; how could she use such strong language against men when she's being interviewed for a TV channel!!!
There r other ways of putting forth the same point. Guess she has some negative experience with men in her life which makes her 'hate' men in general. Did u watch her facial expression while refering to men? Face speaks the truth even when the mouth doesn't!!
I disagree with Lakshmi Vishwanathan. Shiva is the God of dance, and Shiva is a man. So how would a man not be liked to dance Bharatanatyam? Male dancers bring a completely different style and flavor to Bharatanatyam that women cannot. I think that there is more of a cultural stigma for these male dancers than anything else. Which I think is a real shame, because the people that don't try it could be the some of the best in the world.
People who have seen, heard or acqainted with Lakshmi Vishwanathan knows very well that she is a very bad human, her speach always pungent. Pana thimiru. She thinks she is the authority. It is the media to b blamed to interview her.
For one who is so verse in the art of Bharata Natyam. I find Lakshmi is stuck in the world of stupidity. Dance is both masculine and feminine. In the west there are many great dance compaies like Alvin Aley and many more. 5'4 ugly and sweaty what bull. I always admire this lady but just listening to her talk I started looking at her in a different light. Shiva is the God of Dance and there are so much stories about his dances. Lakshmi need to go back and check the Natya Veda on dance.
i think that bharathanatyam is for both women and men. not many guys are into bharathanatyam as they think dancing is for girls only,[i go to a dance school in NY and for the past 9 years this school has been an all girls dance school, maybe one or 2 guys were there then they dropped out] I think that Lakshmi Ji is wrong when she says no one wants to see a male dancer, they are equally good as girls and sometimes even better .
