The IDF are a very seasoned force they deal with anywere from 30-80 terrorist attacks per month. Imagine what life would be like in the states if school busses had to have metal screens to keep hand grenades out. The PLO has repeatedly asserted that there goal is the destruction of Israel. There is no way to have peace under those conditions
