after watching his brilliant performance in the painted veil, i've taken a liking to his faux BRITISH accent. american accent is so boring.

I agree, I had never heard of it until I saw it in the weekly section of my DVD store. It has a very similar sweeping, haunting style to The English Patient. I prefer The Painted Veil, but The English Patient is still amazing.

You're right, it could have won awards if they had publicised it better. Good comment.
