This video clip was recorded on Monday 16th February 2009 in Leeds Town Hall during the rehearsal for the Mendelssohn Bicentenary Commemoration Concert of sacred music given by St Peter's Singers.
The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley and the organist is David Houlder.
English translation of the words of the anthem:
Grant us merciful peace, O Lord! For there is no-one to protect us in our time of strife except you, the one and only Lord (Martin Luther, 1483-1546)

As a member of the choir, I wish to apologize. Our conductor had runny bowels this taping, and so, the piece was a bit rushed. He did make it to the bathroom in time, and we later recorded the Masterpiece so sweetly slow that the College kept it in their private archives for visiting dignitaries. Happy to clarify this rushed performance.

What is the conductor thinking, Mendelssohn worte "Andante" not Presto. I am going to accompany this work in 2 days but not at this speed. The music here is totally wasted.

Way toooooooooooooo fast ... this song was written with the many parts in it so that they might be emphasized. I know a lot of choir directors who are looking for jobs right now who could replace this one.
