From J.S. Bach's first motet, Singet dem Herrn (Sing Ye to the Lord), the Central Islip HS Concert Choir (John Anthony, Director) performs Alles was odem (All Breathing Life), the last movement, at the fourth annual High School Choral Festival at Queens College (Aaron Copland School of Music).
John Anthony is a graduate of the Aaron Copland School of Music.

  • ok - that was excellent!!

Dir. - you have done a masterful job producing such an incredibly

difficult Fuga. Very Few HS's can attempt this piece.

  • In high school choir (*way* long ago) we did this motet, and it is an incredibly intense piece of music, but is so very soaring and satisfying to get right, and this choir CERTAINLY gets it right! I'm getting teary-eyed just listening to it - these folks are great!

  • Not only does the choir sound good, they look very nice. It is awesome to see a well disciplined High school choir. This choir can be an example to college choirs. I sincerely laude your efforts. They are doing BACH, which many professional groups cannot do!

  • it sounds like this is a hard piece. but it seems like yall tore it up.

  • Really, really impressive: "Singet dem Herrn" is one of the hardest vocal pieces ever composed--"Alles, was Odem hat, lobet dem Herrn" is astoundingly difficult to pull off well, and you did it!
