Members of the Eastern and Mountain District Radio Club (EMDRC) traveled to Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsular to operate in the 2009 International Lighthouse Weekend and also celebrate 150 years of continuous operation of the Cape Schanck Light.
Weather conditions were clear but the wind was very strong, in Melbourne gusts of 160kmph were recorded and I expect we had that and more.
Our HF station was quite simple with 100w output feeding a Fritzel off centre fed dipole, and on VHF FM+Dstar we used an omni directional Vertical. All the antennas were supported using EMDRC manufactured 6 and 9m telescopic masts.

Hi Randy,
thanks for the comment. Yes it was a fun time, my first Lighthouse avtivation and for me a rare portable operation that was not from a tent.
Cheers, Jack.

Thanks for the comment Joe,
have a read of your coments and you will notice I made one on the video when I viewed it last year. Interference was pretty bad but we made a a heap more contacts . That wind was the worst thing my kite was pulling like all hell to the limit of the strings breaking point so I left it in the bag. Cheers, Jack.
